A look at the fascinating history and lore of the Chinese dragon.

A Time of Golden Dragons by Song Nan Zhang and Hao Yu Zhang (Tundra Books, ISBN: 0-88776-791-5) is an incredible picture book about the Chinese dragon.

A Time of Golden Dragons explores possible origins of the Chinese dragon, the differences between dragons in the east and west, and how dragons were deities and emperors believed that they were earthly reincarnations of dragons.

A dragon ruled over each of the 5 elements: earth, fire, wood, gold, and water, and each of us is a descendant of one of the elemental dragons.

With this book, children will also explore the Chinese calendar, what animal year they were born in and what each animal symbol means (animal quality). Children love to discover their animal sign and its qualities.

A Time of Golden Dragons is an excellent resource for multicultural studies as well as social studies. For art classes, it can be used to examine how the Chinese dragon evolved and how dragon images can be used to decorate a great number of items.

Highly recommended for educators, librarians, and home schooling parents. This book can be used across a great number of curriculums.
